Bio.

I grew up in the Battle Creek, MI area and was raised in the conservative, evangelical movement. This was where I first learned that God is love and that Christians are called to live out that Love in service to the world.

I have been a spiritual minister since I was a child. As a teenager, I began my ministry career through children’s ministry each summer and non-profit community work during the school year. In college, I took part in a spiritual leadership training program, served abroad, and worked in full-time ministry through an international children’s missions organization.

As a young adult, I experienced a crisis of faith as I struggled to reconcile my Christianity and my emerging identity as a trans non-binary, queer person. I found a path of healing, fulfillment, and affirmation within the progressive Christian movement, liberation theology, and a host of spiritual practices. While I am a Christian, the people that I serve and “do life” with are of a variety of faith backgrounds, including the “spiritual but not religious” and atheist/agnostics.

At 27, I relocated to Battle Creek and gave birth to my son, Isaac. I became a member of First Congregational Church of Battle Creek and joined their staff in 2015. I started as the part time “foul-mouthed church secretary” and my responsibilities, training, and personal growth allowed me to evolve into my current position as Executive Director. Both I and FCCBC have been transformed through my tenure here.

I met my wife, Ashley Feagin in 2016 and together are raising Isaac, the most magical, awe-inspiring person I know.
